The camera video background appears smaller than the available screen space, leaving some black areas around the image, simply because the Cardboard virtual frustum Field of View is larger (approx 80 degrees) than the viewing volume corresponding to device camera.

In Play mode in the Editor, you can increase the Scale of the BackgroundPlane to X:2500 and Z:2000  to fill the screen...

however we cannot change the values anywhere else to have the effect permanent.

any ideas how?

Hello pkiriakou, can you tell me please which is the BackgroundPlane that you have changed to enlarge the size of the Ar camera screen size? you put "Size X:2500 and Z:2000 in the cardboardmain or in the Arcamera? thanks

Even I tried to solve the same problem, I tried scaling the ARcamera in order to get the most fill. But it had a zoom like effect and it distorted the camera feed.

So the only way to solve this is to physically increase the cameras field of view?

You can also create a zoom in effect by selecting each separate Left and Right Camera and then increasing the Field of View slider.

I know it's an old question, here what work for me. first I run the play mode and then by clicking the AR Camera at hierarchy at scene mode I adjust the background plane.

I attach a file with the configuration that works for me. I have a One Plus 6 and with these values I can see VR in fullscreen working with Vuforia. This configuration file is in "Vuforia Configuration".

- "Screen to lens distance" makes the area bigger.
