License Key not working

April 7, 2015 - 1:45pm #1

My Digital Eyewear license key does not work when I execute the sample application.  it only works if I use a Mobile-type license key.  Is this because I am only using my phone to run the sample application?

Hi AEveritt. It's me again. The combination Vuforia 505 + Oculus 050 / 0601 + unity 467 + GearVR(SM-R321) + Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F) not working for me. He says me again about wrong application key at top of screen. I have tested on two empty projects and use official "Integrating Oculus 0.5.0/0.6.0.1 with Vuforia 5" pages.

Hi,

With the 5.0 release the GearVR and Cardboard are supported with standard Vuforia licenses, eyewear licenses are only required for see-through eyewear devices.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thanks!   I got my Galaxy S6 Edge working with Vuforia 5 and Google Cardboard - and it's working beautifully!!

One thing I should note, though, is that I got it working by using a regular license key and not an Eyewear license key.   Is there a reason why the Eyewear license key shouldn't be working?

Unfortunately I think all you can really do is wait for a future Vuforia Eyewear release that officially supports the S6.

I also have an S6 so I feel your pain.

Hello EricYen,

That looks like something has gone wrong with the camera, can you check that your device is supported for GearVR (https://support.oculus.com/hc/en-us/articles/204113096-Samsung-Gear-VR-Innovator-Edition-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-4-Compatibility) and verify that the camera is working correctly?

Hello Ami,

We do not currently allow apps built with a digital eyewear license to run on a smartphone. There are a couple of exceptions, some Note4 and Galaxy S5 models are supported for use with GearVR.

If you are wanting to create a Vuforia application for cardboard I suggest you look at this thread: https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/unity-3-extension-technical-discussion/two-stereo-cameras-independent-ar-camera#comment-2045381. This shows how you can use the standard Vuforia SDK to create a stereo view in Unity.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew, how are you?

I contacted support and showed me trying to solve my problem using the Vuforia Developer forums, specifically this post.

I have a Samsung Galaxy s4 and develop AR apps using the Vuforia SDK.

Digital Eyewear project leader , tell me.

If I want to develop an AR app for Digital Eyewear on my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy s4) coupled to the Google Cardboard is not possible? Why?

I'll need to use the Vuforia to create my custom SDK for Android smartphones coupled to Google cardboard?

I did four questions, four answers I want.

Sorry my English is not the language of my country.

Thanks for listening.

Ami

Cheers

Hello ppppoi,

The way we have enabled support for the SM-N910C and K only requires that the app re-start with an internet connection to download information about the device. You don't need to recompile or change your license at all. You will need to make sure that you are using a Vuforia digital eyewear beta license.

Kind regards,
Andrew

PS: I compiled, and i dont see the the license splash anymore but a black screen, and when i plug in the GearVR the oculus open the default application on the front of the unity aplication. and when i quit oculus default application the unity aplication shows up. I cant see the unity app on oculus because the oculus force to open the default application on top of my unity application.

we have to use VROne with an iPhone 6

so using the Samsung SDK we could make it work.. the license works well in Editor but when we compile the Wearable license doesn't work on iOS.

we guess we should give up, right?

Hello! I also have the problem about the license like your meseage (using Samsung galaxy note4 for Gear VR).

"Vuforia App key is not valid for this product. Please get a valid key....."

I got a license key by vuforia digital eyewear, and I am testing a sample (Vuforia virtual buttons.)

In gameview of the unity3d, I can play the sample with the binocular stereoscopic view.

I made the APK for Android. Then, I could not play the sample on the phone due to the license problem.

Do you have any solution or fixed the license problem?

Thank you.

Hello,

Using a VDE key Vuforia will only initialise on a supported VDE device (see https://developer.vuforia.com/library/articles/Training/Vuforia-for-Digital-Eyewear). If you run your app with a VDE key on an unsupported device you will get the initialisation error INIT_LICENSE_ERROR_PRODUCT_TYPE_MISMATCH.

Andrew
