I'm quite new to AR development and to Vuforia. But looking through packages to implement my needs for a new project, it looks by far the best choice!
However I am a web / Android dev so there are a lot of new things to get my head around here with OpenGL etc. I'm hoping someone can give me advice on how to proceed, using Vuforia, for the project I have.
I'm essentially going to end up with a scene displaying on a target. An example might be a solar system. So it's numerous textured models, with some basic repetitive movement (not all animations will be circular / orbits, this is just an example). With some basic UI to navigate between a few of these scenes. There's no interaction with the models and is in no way a game, just a few items in a "scene" moving on predefined paths.
As an Android developer, I was looking into using the SDK and working in Android Studio as per a normal Android project. However I'm not sure whether this is the best way to proceed, as most things I read seem to suggest the best route would be to use Unity for something like this. But it is my understanding that if you're using Unity, you're all in on Unity and are building the whole thing in Unity3D and it's not very similar to a conventional Android project?
Hopefully an example like this is quite simple and someone will be able to give me some good advice about the dificulties in proceeding in different ways. Obviously I'm fairly new to this and may have some of the basics wrong already! Thanks for any help anyone can give, all comments are more than welcome.
