Building my first AR app

August 10, 2016 - 7:39am #1

Hi,

I’m building an AR app; i have the AR functionality working very well, using Unity3D, and managed to test on my iPhone. So far so good!

But i have a more or less general question regarding the main UI and added functionality

The app should consist of

-a page containing a map where you can see your current position and a number of predefined locations/pins (switchable to a static/offline map)

-a page containing an image gallery which should be scrollable (vertical). Every image should be linked to the predefined locations, and should change order according to the closest predefined location (when online)

-a page containing the (now functioning) AR part

-a simple ‘about/info’ page

Now as far as I see it I have a 2 options.

Building everything within unity;

-Using ‘OnlineMaps’ for the map-functionality

-Using ‘Enhanced scroller’ for the image-gallery part and added layers of UI

-Using Vuforia for the AR part

or…

for iOS, building the map and gallery function within xcode and add the unity/vuforia built AR part there

for android, building the main UI within Android Studio and add the unity/vuforia built AR part there

what’s the best practice in your opinion(s)

thanks in advance!
