can vuforia track more than 10 targets simultaneously?

November 15, 2012 - 11:04pm #1

Hey there~

I knew from the document that vuforia's simultaneous tracking limitation is 5,

but still want to be sure.

In my project , at least 10 targets are to be tracked at the same time,

is it possible?

thank you in advance for your reply!

Hi, certainly device hardware has an impact on tracking performance; however the limitation to 5 maximum simultaneous image targets is fixed and enforced by QCAR, so it will not be possible to ask for more than that.

Thank you for your reply!

While it's best to imply image Targets, Frame Markers is also OK.

Does the limitation of number of Image Targets(IT) depend not on device Hardware,

and is fixed to be 5 ?

I thought the IT limitation is 5 because  devices may track less robustly,

and good hardware  can increase the limitation.

from what you said, it might not seem the same with what i thought, right?

So it may depend on the device hardware Laughing, and that will not be a problem, great!

Hi, you can certainly track more than 5 targets (e.g. 10) if you use QCAR Frame Markers (see also QCAR::Marker class in API reference, and Frame Markers in the online Dev Guide);

However this will not be possible if you plan to use Image Targets (in that case you will be limited to 5).

So, it depends on your project constraint, i.e. whether Frame Markers are acceptable for you.

Hi, I don't know about the upper limit but in one of my projects I had 9 marker trackables at the same time. Worked like a charm.
