Challenge submission questions.

January 2, 2011 - 12:41am #1

Hi all,

I was just reviewing the submission guidelines, and I have a couple of questions.

From http://developer.qualcomm.com/dev/augmented-reality/developer-challenge, in the "How to submit your applications" section, the instructions state that the readme file should include the Full legal name of the company and a URL... I'm planning on submitting my application as an individual - Is it acceptable to put N/A for the company name and URL? Are there any alternative details we should include as an individual?

Also, how should we submit our trackable targets for printing? Can they be included as a PDF in the COPY_TO_SD_CARD folder, and then referenced in the readme file?

Finally, can I specify a particular model of phone to be used for reviewing the application? I don't have easy access to any supported devices other than my HTC desire, so will struggle to do any testing on devices other than this...

Hope everyone else is enjoying this challenge as much as I am - Looking forward to seeing what others come up with!

Cheers,

Jeremy

There's one last important thing that we'll be adding to the submission rules shortly. Please change the package name for your project to something unique, we don't want a hundred submissions all using com.qualcomm.QCARSamples.ImageTargets :) The package name is used as a unique identifier for the app, and you can't install two applications with the same package name on a single device.

For our regular Android developers, you can change the package name in Eclipse by right-clicking on the package in the Package Explorer and choosing Refactor > Rename... When you change the package name, you should get a warning that this will cause unsatisfied link errors. You will need to update your native function signatures accordingly.

For our Unity Android developers, you can change the package name by going to Edit > Project Settings > Player, choosing the Android tab and the Other Settings section. Change the Bundle Identifier field.

Thanks Kim, that's cleared things up nicely.

I'll also include a note in my README file as you suggest.

Cheers,

Thanks for these questions, we updated the submission guidelines a bit to make things clearer. Please see the updated guidelines on the Developer Challenge page:

http://developer.qualcomm.com/dev/augmented-reality/developer-challenge

You can use N/A for the Company Name and URL if you are submitting as an individual. Just be sure to include your mailing address, email address, and phone number.

You can mention in your Readme that the application was tested on the HTC Desire, but we cannot guarantee which of the supported devices our judges will use during testing. An application that works on the Desire should work on the other devices, but I suggest including that note in the Readme just in case.
