Hi,

If we have applications on stores with Vuforia inside, is there something we should do regarding new european GDPR regulations ?

Thanks a lot,

Regards,

Michaël

Hello,

My understanding is that you are referring to this specific clause:

(iv)   The IP address used by the end user’s device for the purpose of inferring the country of use (but not the exact location).

To be clear, Vuforia *does not* collect and store IP addresses. As stated above, the IP address is used to infer the country of origin, not the exact location, and is then deleted.

That being said, I've escalated this to the legal team to review the language further to see if additional clarification is required.

Thanks,

Hello @Strasza, do you have any update about this? Due to the statistics that Vuforia collects, there are GDPR laws that do not conform with the IP tracking: https://developer.vuforia.com/legal/vuforia-7-statistics

Do you know if Vuforia has anything in the roadmap to conform to this? Or allow to disable such tracking?

Best regards,

Hi @Strasza,

so, we in Germany need to make contracts with third parties, like webhoster or any other company that get's (customer) data from us. In the contract the other party (webhoster, etc.) agrees to handle (customer) data compliant to GDPR.

I'm pretty sure you get a lot of "our" (costumer) data in the images, other sensor data (GPS?), logins, IPs, etc. So this should be a big topic on your side too? Do you offer such a contract for us developers?

Thanks

Hello Michaël,

There is nothing you'll need to do with Vuforia with regards to the enforcement of GDPR regulations.

I cannot speak to any other aspect of your app however, so make sure the rest of your app follows these regulations.

Thanks,

Vuforia Support
