help.... how to start with ar???

I am a newbie. I want to develop a marker based augmented reality system.I dnt know where to start.I have downloaded the qualcomm sdk. please help me.From where i should start?

This is going to depend on your requirements. The OpenGL code provided w/ the samples demonstrates the core capabilities of the SDK. If these accommodate what you're trying to accomplish, then you can focus on the Android SDK. But if you need to alter or extend the behavior of the samples, then you'll need to learn some opengl. There are a lot of good Android 'Getting Started' tutorials around. OpenGL tutorials for ES are harder to find, and especially for 2.0. You may want to stick w/ 1.1 until you're more familiar w/ the basics of opengl programming. ~ IIRC iOS requires 2.0, so that advice is only good for Android.

in-order to understand imagetarget file what should i study? android or opengl? please suggest a good tutorial for studying that

Yes. The SDK samples show how to develop native apps for Android and iPhone. So Unity is not required.

Unity provides 3D rendering and authoring, along with helpful API's for handling user interaction, interfacing w/ the device context, etc.. It's a very easy environment to work in.

But not all features of the native SDK are exposed in Unity. So you'll want to qualify whether Unity is even viable for what you want to do.

Thanx for your advise... should i use unity3d?? can i develop without using unity 3d?? If so that wil be much helpful to me..How unity 3d will help me??
