How to make an Image target thats not on paper

February 6, 2018 - 7:21am #1

Hi guys!

Just wondering if its possible to make an image target from a cut out object?

Im fairly new to this and just have worked with normal image targets (posters, cards, paintings). have yet to try image targets that are cut out.

Im trying to make the camera recognize the object's design and differentiate it using color (Same flower cut out but different color schemes) but uploading a picture of the object doesnt seem to work. Attached below is the image of the flower im going to use as the target.

Is this even possible? If not, what course of action should i take for this to work? Thanks!

Hello nonami96,

This is possible, but I think in this case the flower you are using is likely not a strong target for Image Targets. What star rating did it get when you uploaded it to the Target Manager? I'm guessing most of the feature points are not on the flower itself and thus it will have difficulty being detected.

You can read more about optimizing your Image Target here: https://library.vuforia.com/articles/Solution/Optimizing-Target-Detection-and-Tracking-Stability.html
