looking away from tracker image

Hello everyone.

I was wondering how one can make it so that the imagemarker is only needed to "define a plane of reference"

What i would like to do is look at the imageMarker to get the tracking started and then "look up" or some other direction away from the marker while still seeing the 3d content. This way the field of view becomes much more bigger.

I am guessing that one has to translate the movement of the tablet into movement of tha ARcamera or something.

I have seen this work in a showreel of the people of "Augment" and I would like to do it like them.

So my question is does anyone has an idea of which steps i would have to take for this to work?

Thanks in advance!

You'll need to revise the OnTrackingLost method in the event handlers script on your target so that it doesn't disable rendering for your model(s), and you may also need to re-parent the models to the ARCamera (i.e. make the ARCamera the parent object ) - when tracking resumes, you'd need to make the ImageTarget the parent again.

So i have found a way to control the camera with movement from the tablet (using a unity package called GyroDroid)

and i already know how to us the tracking image.

What i am trying to do now is switch the cameracontrols from Tracking based to Gyro based, as soon as the tracking is lost.

Now i found a script to determine the moment tracking is lost (on the vuforia developer website)

BUT as soon as tracking is lost, my 3d objects are no longer displayed. So i do not really know if the gyro script is taking over or not.

Does anyone have any idea on how to keep the 3d objects visible when the tracking is lost?

My Plan B was to switch camera's from AR-controlled to Gyro-Controlled. Except that doesn't give me expected results.

Thanks in advance!

If you use Unity, you can set the ARCamera World Center Mode in the inspector to SPECIFIC_TARGET and then drag the Image Target you want as the plane of reference into this slot.

This should help you to achieve what you have described.
