QCAR supports single image and cuboid as targets.

Is it possible to do something in which within a single project teapot can appear on multiple targets without multitarget project ?

I mean can my teapot appear either if it sees chips or stones in a single project without using concept of multi targets ?

nrgarach you should do some tests with the Target Management System to get an idea of what types of images will work. The target image needs to have certain characteristics. Not all images or patterns will work.

I agree Kim. QCAR does not support 3D feature tracking so what I am trying to do is get 2D images of a 3D model as in your example of multitarget - a cereal bowl moving around the 3D box.

This feature of multitarget tracks the 3D models indirectly.

Now if I have just 5-7 images its good I can take it one by one. But what if the number increases to hundreds.

Can you please recommend me tools I can use to get hundreds of 2D images of my 3D models to make 3D models target work like QCAR's multitarget example ?

QCAR is designed to track feature-rich images, so instead of tracking walls as a whole you're probably better off trying to track content on those walls (posters, directories, signs, etc.) You can create a collection of targets, one for each piece of content on a wall. Then, if desired, you can use a multi target to describe the relative orientation of each target, such that all the targets are brought into a unified coordinate system.

Imagine my target is very big say for example a shopping mall and I am given a 3D model of a mall.

Now, if I want to use Qualcomm's SDK for augmenting shopping mall's wall then in that case I may need 2D flat planar pictures of all the walls of the mall from all sides front view, top view, side view, passage view between two shops in mall etc.

What tools do you recommend that I use do to make this application using QCAR's SDK ?

Does QCAR support 3D models as targets ?

It depends on what you are asking here..

You can use a multitarget configuration to define a geometry among the targets that conforms to the surfaces of a real 3D object (e.g. a physical object like a box or a toy robot). But the targets need to be mapped to planar ( flat ) surfaces on the object.

QCAR doesn't support 3D feature tracking, so it can't recognize 3D objects by themselves. You have to use multiple image targets on the faces of the object.

Thanks Olo.

Does QCAR support 3D models as targets ?

Is there some way to deal with 3D models as targets using QCAR's SDK ?

So the same model appears on multiple targets (e.g. both chips and stones)?

Yes. Only the targets are exclusive (i.e. only one of each), but you can use the same 3D model as often as you want. You'd do this as an ImageTarget project w/ multiple target resources configured rather than a MultiTarget project. MultiTarget is for a set of image targets that are in a fixed geometric arrangement.
