Rendering sprites, etc

November 15, 2014 - 3:28pm #1

Hello,

I've been really stuck on a problem for a while now. I'm working on kind of a unique game. There's no augmented reality stuff, but I need to use the (android) camera as the background image, so I've been using the ARCamera prefab. I'll be rendering some stuff (sprites, etc) in front of this on the device.

I've been messing around with it for so many hours, playing with things like the culling mask, etc, but I can't get any sprites to show up. Using unity, and the webcam as the default, I've got it working. Same if I use unity remote and run it on my phone. However when I build it, and the sprite gets instantiated, nothing appears. The game freezes for a frame or two like something is loading in, and then nothing. Is there some other kind of setting I'm missing? Do the coordinates in the unity program vary from those on the phone? I'll keep messing around with it, but if anyone knows a solution, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

So I found a work around, thought I'd post it here in case anyone ever has this problem again.

I basically just made a second camera, and raised the depth, and had that camera render the sprites over the Vuforia camera. Simple fix that took forever to realize was doable.
