Hello -
Is there anything available in the latest Vuforia SDK 5 release that supports SLAM (Instant Tracking). It looks like the closest features are Extended Tracking, Smart Terrain and User Defined targets. However, Extended Tracking and Smart Terrain require an image tracker to start and User Defined targets are strictly 2D.
Does Vuforia support a Metaio-like (or upcoming Wikitude-like) 3D SLAM tracking feature that does not require an image to start the tracking? If no, could the User Defined target be used to 'start' the Smart Terrain or Exteded Tracking?
Thank you,
Sam
SLAM or Instant Tracking
Currently that is correct. You need to detect a target first.
SLAM or Instant Tracking
Any news on this topic? Is it known if you guys are working on a 3D tracking option?
Thanks
SLAM or Instant Tracking

Hi- Can someone help me understand how to implement SLAM with vuforia? Which is better - Smart terrain or User Defined targets? Thanks
