Taking an external camera stream and using that as the video tracking input?

I'm not sure if it's possible but I'm essentially trying to take camera input from an external source (not connected with the device Vuforia is running on) sort of like a security cam and streaming the video over the network then using that video as Vuforia's input for tracking.

I looked into perhaps replacing the frames collected by the native camera with the stream images but it seems that I can only read from those frames. 

Any kind of help or suggestions would be amazing :)
