User Define Target Features

January 10, 2013 - 7:28am #1

Hello

I am wondering if we can use images which are not from camera as user defined targets.

In other words, can we use image only from camera as user defined targets?

I hope vuforia supports feature for using custom images as udt, is there anyone can tell me if this supported by vuforia?

Sincerely,

Zhen.

Current active dataset name in Vuforia using Android studio sdk

I need to distinct between several objects using user-defined targets in Vuforia. I started by creating several datasets using target manager. However, when an object is recognized, I need to know which dataset the recognition is based on- how do I get current active dataset name or event the uploaded image name in Vuforia using Android studio sdk?

I haven't found any documentation about that

Thanks

There are quotas applied to free accounts, and custom quotas can be defined for commercial accounts. See: https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/dev-guide/target-manager-user-guide

OK. Thanks for the answer. Building such a gateway is pretty simple so will do it that way.

Btw. Are there some traffic limitations with the API. Not that it will be a problem in a long time but just curious :)

Cheers.

Yes this is still the case. You'll need to relay the images through your own gateway.

If you want to enable users to generate and store custom images as targets, they will need to be submitted to the Cloud Recognition service. The User Defined Targets feature can be used to evaluate images, to see if they'll make good targets, but it does not store the image and there is no way to substitute a custom image for the camera image used by UDT.

Our VWS API enables you to develop applications to upload and manage targets, so you can develop a gateway to relay targets to the CR service, which would enable you to support custom user images.

Is this still the case with latest Vuforia? I would like to enable users to take pictures of their targets and store those targets in the device database. So that they can later just point to the image and see augmented content over it.

In short enable I would like users to make their own dataset with targets.

And thanks to Qualcomm for the awesome AR SDK :)

If you want to enable users

Hi, Vuforia can only build

Hi, Vuforia can only build user defined targets from camera video frame, not from custom/external images.

If you think this feature is desirable, I invite you to post it in here (other users also have posted the same request):
