User Defined Targets

December 14, 2012 - 11:51am #1

Congratulations to the talented Qualcomm team for the 2.0 release!

As I'm absorbing and exploring, can I get the cheat sheet version on user-defined targets?  Does this feature still use a Qualcomm back-end system to do the logic and create the dataset behind the scenes, or is the entire process completely local?  Also, is there a link to the Cloud recognition pricing model (I haven't stumbled across it yet)?

Thank you

If that is a desired feature (exporting/saving dataset), you may want to add a post to our Wish List thread:

The maximum number of UDT targets that you can create in a running session is 100;

as DavidBeard pointed out the sample application logic limits this to 5, but the SDK supports a much higher ceiling limit of 100.

UDT export

+1 for the UDT dataset export.

This was my #1 feature request after evaluating the beta.

UDT export

Interesting.  Thank you for the quick answers.

Exporting the user-defined target dataset would let me do some pretty cool things, so I'll submit a feature request.  Still, even as implemented, this is a handy trick and I'll put it to good use.  Nice work.

No you can't export the dataset.

Another consideration with User Defined Targets is that you are limited to 5 concurrent target instances, and additional targets will replace earlier ones on a FIFO basis.

Also it's advisable that the user captures their targets with the camera and image surfaces in parallel planes in order to avoid perspective distortion, this will provide the best tracking performance.

We'll definitely be in touch to talk pricing re: cloud services.

re: UDT.  Excellent news to hear that it's entirely on-device.  Is it possible to export the datasets created on devices and/or share them between users?

UDT is a device-only feature, and please contact us to discuss pricing.

I found the cloud recognition

I found the cloud recognition pricing matrix:

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the limitations of user-defined targets are.

Thanks again.
