Using Smart Terrain with no target

June 23, 2015 - 12:50pm #1

I have my team trying to set up a game the way you have on this video https://youtu.be/UOfN1plW_Hw with no target like a soda can or image being laid out. In the video you have them just scanning an area and then it scans the objects to create the terrain. We for the life of us cannot find any documentation on this. Is this still possible with your current SDK or Unity or was this just glimpse into the future of vuforia?

Thank you,
Ryan Behnke

Using Smart Terrain with no target

Smart Terrain needs an initial target to start constructing the terrain. You can use your own custom image target.

https://developer.vuforia.com/library/articles/Training/Getting-Started-with-Smart-Terrain

"The Scanning phase starts from a pre-defined target which is used to initialize terrain generation. You can use an Image Target, Multi Target or Cylinder Target from either a Device or Cloud Database as the initialization target. Once the Terrain has been initialized, the Smart Terrain Tracker will begin reconstructing the stage surface, along with any viable props that are found on the stage, and adding them to the terrain."
