Playing around with the AR/VR demo got me to thinking that Vuforia would be great for creating controllers for Google Cardboard VR experiences. Oculus, Vive, and Samsung have all announced their own controllers, but I was thinking that with Image Targets and virtual buttons you could make some pretty nifty controllers for Cardboard, at least for testing out interaction ideas.
Below are a couple of videos I recorded with my initial attempts at this idea:
Using Vuforia as virtual joystick: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8ebDpF5jXY
Using Vuforia as virtual controller with buttons (for gun, magic wand, etc.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU_1awJ7PAc
super cool. Was thinking of
super cool. Was thinking of something in a nearby ballpark : using a second phone with vuforia, and sending it's position back to main Carboard unit via bluetooth.
