Vertical Plane detection

January 16, 2019 - 2:59am #1

Are there any plans to add Vertical Planes?

A bit disappointed this was not already added to 8.0 release really.

It's been avaliable in ARCore and ARKit for quite some time...

The last I heard was "stay tuned". Yes, it's been available for a while in ARKit and ARCore. I see many applications for vertical plane detection. I hope they add it soon!

Hmmm they mentioned something in the March 2019 release notes for 8.1 but it looks like this would only help if you are developing a native app (I'm using Unity).

New APIs have been added that allow developers of native code for Android and iOS to access session and frame pointers for ARCore and ARKit. These APIs are currently experimental and enable developers to combine ARCore and ARKit features that aren’t currently accessible to Vuforia Engine. Examples include detected planes and advanced lighting information.
