With the announcement of the HTC Vive adding the front facing camera, and seemingly full access to it in their SDK, can we hope to see the Vuforia SDK allowing us to utalise the front camera to enable mixed reality applications? Especially as both products offer Unity 3D based SDKs.

Vuforia and Vive
Hey Strasza, or everyone in Vuforia,
I still want to make it work. For example through the costom Eyewear. I am sorry but the Vive is one, if not the most succesful VR device out there, pactiacally with build in AR capability (front facing Camera). So I dont understand why Vuforia does not even make an effort of making it work... I have seen tons of requests out there from people trying to build emersive AR/VR experiences, and nobody to help them. That is if I might add an actual market gap, you guys could fill (and I believe you could fill it quickly ;) ).
Best of Luck with that
Raf
Vuforia and Vive
Hello,
Unfortunately, the Vive is not a supported device of the Vuforia SDK: https://library.vuforia.com/content/vuforia-library/en/articles/Training/Vuforia-for-Digital-Eyewear.html
Apologies for the inconvenience,

It's possible as it is just pc based.
I own a vive and you could eventually just buy an logitech Webcam as the vive has an additional USB port available on the HMD for 3rd party stuff.
The build in camera is not high spec so tracking would not work that easy, it's not ment for that purpose.
I am going to prototype this later on , but adding an simple logitech hd cam it would be easy and possible as it works the same as you would use the vcamera in the editor .
I'm still confused about this. How is it that Vuforia can work in the Unity Editor (play mode) but we cannot do a build for Windows and use the webcam? Now that the Vive pro has stereo cameras this is becoming even more desirable as there's no good method for AR in the Vive. Vuforia would be the leader on this. Can vuforia at least comment whether they will be working on this?
