Hi,
I recently utilised Vuforia for an AR demo for iOS devices (via Unity 3D) and was pleasently surprised with its ease of use, realiabilty and robustness.
However its a real shame that currently it does not support publishing to standalone/desktop applications. This is really limiting as i've worked on a number of AR projects in the past, with competitor SDK's that I'd much rather switch over to using Vuforia for. It would also make a great deal of sense in terms of being able to develop once but publish to Android, iOS and Mac/PC desktop, thus unifying all our AR development.
Is there any reason why you are not currently supporting desktop/standalone?
Using the Unity package its clear that the SDK itself works in a desktop environment, even if it is just the Unity editor, so it would seem like most of the work needed for desktop is already done?
Enabling publishing of standalone/desktop apps would pretty much make Vuforia a one stop shop and our prefered AR SDK.
So whats preventing this from happening?
Thanks

Hi,
thank you for these inputs on Vuforia; we understand the potential value of what you suggest and we have seen a few more users asking for the same feature;

Hi,
Vuforia support for desktop/standalone apps
My guess of why Vuforia doesn't publish a desktop version despite the numerous requests is because of licensing issues.

The StudierStube license file looks at your PC MAC address so I assumed it is on per-pc basis. I emailed the company to ask for clarification on this but they never got back to me. Perhpas you can try?

Do you know if FastCV is also used in Vuforia, or it is more StudierStube, I also would not hesitate to buy 3000$ per-seat license.

I am not sure if FastCV features are used in Vuforia or if StudierStube (Vuforia) is used in FastCV.
I suppose it is possible to make a Unity plugin for StudierStube Tracker and make it behave nearly exactly like Vuforia to make migration quite easy. Will look into it.

Does Vuforia use FastCV ?
Yes, and it's free :)
As for the other part of your question... not quite sure what the question is?
If it is about a standalone Desktop version, we have noted the requests and passed on to the Product Team.
thanks
