I would like the ability to access the Target device manager via a REST interface. Or the ability to down load datasets from the cloud database.

The cloud database works well from a application point of view, hiding the details from the end user. But the device database is the only way I can get the performance required. I am afraid the current setup will be too complicated for the general public, the user of my application.

1) Would love to have the cloud-based cylindrical target recognition working. On-device targets are too limiting (not in size, just in the fact that it's difficult to get final approved artwork early enough to lock the app down).

2) Would love to be able to pipe unsuccesfully matched source images into our API via Webhook so that we could try and handle them, add new targets to the cloud, etc.

I really want to build standalone Windows/Weblplayer versions of Vuforia apps. 

Windows Executable and Webplayer(or newer HTML5) support would allow for:

Oculus Rift standalone support

Leap Motion Standalone support

Both of these are not currently possible, you can make prototypes and games/apps but they are only viewable in the Editor/Play mode. You can build executables and webplayer versions, but they will not run.

I like Vuforia and do not want to abandon it for development with these two peripherals, please don't make me use metaio or some other toolset to prototype.

No, Vuforia does not support this. Only the live camera feed can be used.

Can I pre-process the camera frames ?

No, the camera frames are directly read from the device camera and sent to the Vuforia tracking engine; you cannot manipulate or modify the camera frame image before it is injected into the Vuforia trackers.

 

Vuforia should allow to create a ImageTarget from a given custom image on runtime. Relying on pre-made ImageTargets, that can be only done on your website shrinks the capabilities of this SDK a lot. User-Defined ImageTargets are problematic if you want an app-user to search for an Image and scan it (because the target can be only built from the camera frame). There are a lot of situations where you might need more dynamic ImageTargets and a lot of projects can't afford to use your Cloud Target Database, for several reasons. Like in my case, for my bachelor thesis, where im not allowed to use fee-based services (Your Cloud Database Manager). 

It really should be allowed to create ImageTargets on runtime from a given image.

PC & Mac Standalone Build Support (specifically for the Unity plugin)!

We would love to use the Kinect and other peripherals (Oculus, Razr Hydra, etc.) with support for PC and Mac standalone builds out of Unity.

 

We've hacked Vuforia to work with Kinect and standalone solutions, but an integrated Qualcomm release that supports standalone would allow us to harness the power of desktop PCs and installed live experiences without the headaches and limitations of Vuforia's current mobile-only support.

 

PS.  Your competitors are already doing this (and those that are not have it on their radars for the near future)

Hello ~ 

 

I am now doing my final year project that is going to be due soon and I had been trying to work this issue out for more than a month now without any success.  I am using the Vuforia's frame marker which is in pure java and the 3D models are in java classes. 

I am trying to make the 3D models of the alphabets A to Z,  and I will need the 3D authoring software tools, etc that Vuforia is using.,  that will enable me to create the 3D models in Java. So I shall be very, very much obliged and grateful if you will please kindly provide us those tools to do the 3 D models which is compatible with androids.

Hi 

 

i dont have a internet connection everywhere and i need to create  a target sometimes wtthout the Target manager.

Isn't it possible to create a small tool where you enter a jpg / png file and get out a dat & xml file. That would be great!
