Multiple Targets in one Image Target Object

Unity Editor

I'm new to Vuforia and are doing some research for my Bachelor.

After a little research, I'm understanding the principle of Image Targets now. I'm planning to use the local Database, in combination with the Image Targets.

My question is, do I have to create for every Image in my  database a single Image Target Object, or is it possible to create one Image Target that is searching

through my database and using the right image automatically.

Thx for your help

Multiple Targets in one Image Target Object

Hello,

Using Image Targets to recognize the exteriors of buildings is not a recommended use case.

You may want to consider Model Targets, but the challenge is how to capture the building as a 3D/CAD file as import to the Model Target Generator.

Another Vuforia technology that you may want to consider is Area Targets. Typically, we only recommend this feature for indoor spaces, but that does not mean it could not work. The capture process can be simplified by using Vuforia Area Target Creator app, or by using a supported scanner and importing into the Area Target Generator.

Good luck!

I'm planning to create an AR supported campus app for my university.

I want to put informations on all the buildings on my campus. for this I need multiple images of the buildings, so it will work from every angle.

And the second part is, we are planning to support our paper chase for the newcomer at our university. So you have to track multiple objects for the paper chase in the city.

Thx for your help

Hey there,

This is not really best practice. You shouldn't re-use existing targets, rather create new ones on the fly. This is also shown in the Core Samples. Maybe if you explain a little bit your use-case, I could share some thoughts on how to implement.

@pscheper you mean I can create multiple/many image targets. So I have to create for each target an extra image target object

But I want one Image Target for all my targets in the database. So only one object

So not 1:1 for each image, but 1:n images.

Is this possible?

Hey there,

You can create multiple Image Targets within your Unity scene based on your databases. These can than be detected via Vuforia.
