I notice that the ground plane stage prefab comes with the DefaultTrackableBehaviour but it seems that OnTrackingLost is never called?
Are OnTrackingLost and Found called?
Are you running and device with ARKit or ARCore installed? If so, it just may be that those platform AR providers never lose tracking...
In the Unity Core samples onTrackingFound() turns on all of the mesh components, and onTrackingLost() turns them off.
