Thanks for the tip. I've opened a ticket with our documentation team to investigate this further.

The best that we can offer at this time is access to our Android native samples, which demonstrate the Ground Plane feature: https://developer.vuforia.com/downloads/samples. In my opinion these are the better documentation reference as they have been code reviewed and tested on device.
