I cannot answer this definitively as I don't know which device model we're discussing.

However, my sense is that this device *has not* been Vuforia calibrated since our sample does not work out-of-the-box.

Vuforia Fusion basically works like this:

1. Vuforia Engine checks if ARKit/ARCore is installed. If so, use it for Advanced Features (e.g. Ground Plane)
2. Vuforia Engine checks if device has Vuforia calibration data. If so, use it for Advanced Features
3. Vuforia Engine fails if #1 & #2 are false

What should I do to not use the ARcore? Because the test application gives an error when trying to use Ground Plane.

Not necessarily. Vuforia has calibrated a handful of non-ARCore supported devices to work with the Ground Plane feature:

My device does not support ARcore. Does this mean that I cannot use ground plane?

Hello,

If you're using the Vuforia Core samples, and your device supports ARCore, then just download ARCore from the PlayStore. The Vuforia Core samples will automatically detected ARCore as being installed and thus will allow the Ground Plane app to initialize.
