GroundPlane Bug: Flipping orientation in Vuforia 7.1.34, Unity 2018.1.0f2, iOS 11.3.1

Hello all,

it seems there is a bug in the current version of Vuforia with Unity and iOS.

It can be reproduced with the default Ground Plane Example:

Run the Example and place the chair, then the astronaut. Then walk around the astronaut.

Suddenly, the astronaut will flip its orientation and lies flat on the ground.

The same happens for the chair.

 

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Vuforia 7.1.35 can be downloaded within Unity 2018.1 or later. A link to download the update is available on the Vuforia Configuration within Unity.

It seems that they fixed this bug in v7.1.35 but when will it be available in Unity3D?

Really looking forward to the bug fix in rush as well.

 

Test the

Unity2018.1.0 + vuforia7.1.34 + iPhoneX(11.3.1)

Unity2018.1.0 + vuforia7.1.34 + iPad Pro(11.3.1)

Unity2018.1.1 + vuforia7.1.31 + iPhoneX(11.3.1)   <= also reproduce the no background video bug

Unity2018.1.1 + vuforia7.1.34 + iPhoneX(11.3.1)

All of the above can reproduce the flipping orientation bug with the rate 100%

 

But for unity developer, I may found a temporary solution.

It seems the ground plane cause the orientation of the child object to flip , but the position remain the same.

I try to make the AR object not the child of the ground plane object and attach a script that let AR object follow the ground plane object with fixed offset.

(transform.position = groundPlane.position + offset)



The result turned out to be acceptable.

However, it's just a quick finding, I am not sure whether this solution could cause new bugs. 

Any discussion is  welcome before the bug fix is released.

Vuforia's silence on this topic is deafening. We have apps that need to be published asap and now we are waiting for a future fix??

Hello all,

We are aware of this issue with Ground Plane content sometimes rotating on iOS. We have resolved the issue and will be rolling out in patches in the future. I will update this threads with the patches addressing this as well as the timing.

Same issue for me,

AR content randomly rotates 90 degrees. Happens on upgraded Vuforia projects as well as versions built from scratch.

Unity 2018.1.0f2  -  Vuforia 7.1.34 -  iOS 11.3.1 -  iPhone 7 and iPhone 8

I also have this issue.

I place my AR model in the scene and it will randomly rotate 90 degrees.

Vuforia 7.1.34, Unity 2018.1.0f2, iOS 11.3.1 and iPhone X

Hello,

I tested on iPhone 6s and the latest iPadPro 12,9", both on iOS 11.3.1.

Only the augmentations are flipping, camera feed stays ok.

I got that problem on all projects that I updated from earlier version of unity and vuforia as well as in projects made from scratch.

Hello kmaylahn,

What device are you seeing this on? Are just the augmentations flipping, or is the full camera feed flipping?
