Place model on ground plane when image tracker is detected

January 16, 2019 - 3:49am #1

Hello,

I'm having trouble placing a model (character with real human scale) at a specific position in the real world room. The position should never change.

I'm using Unity3d 2018.3 and the latest Vuforia version (8.0).

I read about a way to achieve this:

  1. I first let the user search for a ground plane and then scan an image tracker that is fixed on the floor
  2. when the image tracker is scanned the model will be activated and parented to the ground plane object

However when I do this my model is floating in the air instead of standing on the ground. The ground plane itself is working good when I run an example project by vuforia.

Is it enough to change the parent object?

I have enabled the advanced device tracking.

Is my solution valid or is there any other approach?

Thank you for any advice :)

Kind regards,

Jannick
