Holograms on Image target is not interactable

August 23, 2021 - 6:16pm #1

I have a image target detected and there is a cube attached on it. I was wondering if I can resize, grab or move the cube after detection to a certain place by hand in hololens 2. I searched a lot but did not find a solution.

I am using Vuforia 10, MRTK 2.7 and Unity.

Holograms on Image target is not interactable

Hey there,

I'd suggest reading about the ManipulationHandler which is a script inside the MRTK.

I think you could detach your cube once the image target would be tracked. Since the Hololens recognizes the physical area, your cube should stay where it got detected. Since it's no longer attached and a child of the image target, you could move it with the ManipulationHandler of the MRTK.

You theoretically can create your own DefaultObserverEventHandler to use the OnTrackingFound and OnTrackingLost events to detach the cube. You can read more about that here. (Look for "Attach Content to a Target")

Here are some other articles that I think could be helpful:

Please note that we don't provide any official support for the MRTK, these are pure suggestions. I also would like the point out that there's a Hololens developer community on Slack that might be helpful to you. There's also a channel called #vuforia that we're active in!
