HoloLens with Ground planes

December 4, 2018 - 5:15am #1

I am currently using Unity 2017 version 15.5.6 with Vuforia to project a specific object on an image target.

I have seen the brand new released ground plane feature of Vuforia and I would like to use it to project my specific object on top of it instead of using an image target. This means I would probably need to upgrade my Unity version to 2018 and perhaps Vuforia too, but before doing that, I went through the device compatibility list for the ground plane feature and I have seen that there is no mention of the HoloLens in there.

Is there any chance this feature will work on my project after build it on the HoloLens device? If not, is there any plan for a future compatibility?

Currently there is no roadmap to support Ground Plane on HoloLens.

HL's spatial reconstruction is superior to Vuforia's Ground Plane running on mobile devices with a single RGB camera. Their MR toolkit provides everything our Ground Planes APIs provide, and more.
