Hololens Model Target Tracking issue

Hi guys,

I have trouble getting Model Target Tracking run on my Hololens. I tried all tracking methods on mobile and they worked fine.

The CAD Model also covers all the requirements of a "suitable Model Target". The shape was easily tracked on mobile.

Btw: Image tracking runs well on Hololens.

My setup:

Unity 2017.4.10f1 LTS

Integrated Vuforia

HoloToolkit 2017.4.1.0

I attached some screenshots of the Camera inspector panel, the hierachy and the vuforia configuration.

When deploying the scene to hololens no guide view appears at all.

Hello,

Nothing obvious comes to mind. The only thing that I can think of are to compare your project settings with the HoloLens sample in the Unity Asset Store and see if there is any mismatch between the two. You may also want to consider running our sample as a baseline.

Hololens Model Target Tracking issue

Hi,



thank you medabit



I have already considered all of these points. I tried both types of guide views etc. I activated my database, the model is true to size and so on. 



But I can't get Model Tracking work on my hololens at all. It does nothing when loading the app. I am just able to see my cursor and my scenery. As mentioned I was able to deploy Image Tracking on my Hololens. So it must be something more specific. Any kind of step that I missed ...

Hello,

Here are some important tips for getting Model Targets to work on HoloLens:

  • Using the 3D guide view is highly recommended for HoloLens
  • The HoloLens' RGB camera has an atypical field of view compared to typical mobile devices. Thus, a functioning guide view on a mobile device may be cropped on HoloLens. It is suggested that the guide view be repositioned to be "further away" (i.e. scaled down) due to this cropping.
  • The HoloLens web camera is a landscape-oriented display. Thus, it is recommended to specify "Landscape" when creating a guide view in the Model Target Generator

If you're observing that the position of your augmentation is not matching the expected camera movements during tracking, be sure to check the size of your printed targets. For optical see-through devices (such as HoloLens, ODG R7 and Epson BT-200), the printed target must match the dataset's target size exactly, as uploaded to the Target Manager. Recall that the Target Manager works exclusively in the units of meters.

This differs from 2D planar targets on video see-through devices where the aspect ratio of the printed target must match what was uploaded to the Target Manager (and is in your dataset).
