Instability / bad tracking after moving to Unity 5.5 / Vuforia 6.1

December 16, 2016 - 1:50pm #1

Today I moved my application to from Unity 5.4.0f3-HTP to 5.5.0f3.  After transitioning, I noticed a few issues with Vuforia:

* Image tracking wasn't as stable.  My application has been pretty solid, but now the augmented imagery jumps around pretty easily.

* The image target in Unity no longer shows the imagery/texture from my target database.  The target just shows up as a white square.  Newly created targets are displayed the same way.

* Images are still detected, the augmented imagery is being displayed several inches from where they have been in the past couple months of usage. it appears that the detection location is very different than what it has been.

Given all of this, I thought that maybe jumping to Vuforia 6.1 from 6.1.9 early access might fix some issues, but nothing changed.  During the import process, Unity 5.5 did indicate that some Unity API had been changed and would be automatically updated in the Vuforia code, which may be part of the issue.

Anyone else seen something like this and have an idea of a fix?  My next step is to start a brand new project to see if the issues appear then.

Instability / bad tracking after moving to Unity 5.5 / Vuforia 6.1

I've been using Unity 5.5.0f3 and Vuforia 6.1.17 on HoloLens and it's working fine. For the ImageTarget texture, we have a workaround in our 6.2.6 release notes:

In Unity 5.5, no preview image is shown for new object targets in the editor. The preview image can be enabled by changing the image settings to type “Default” and shape “2D”

Try using our HoloLens 6.2.6 sample app and see if the issue persists.
