Mixed Reality capture bad overlap

September 13, 2016 - 11:19am #6

Image target in Unity and in print are in millimeter precision and in 3d they overlap almost perfectly. But when I record the experience, the overlay is about 2cm narrower than the print (50cm wide) and looks really wrong. It seems that the left edge aligns well, but the right and bottom edges are off.

In the recording I would see the overlay shrink within 2 seconds once the recording started. I assumed since both use camera stream, that is the reason, but then I tried to get the location of the target with Vuforia, then detach the object from image target, and then turn off tracking by disabling ARCamera before starting the recording - still the same issue.

I have also tried to UnityEngine.VR.WSA.HolographicSettings.SetFocusPointForFrame and placing it at the center of the quad that overlays the ImageTarget, but no improvement.

Am I missing something?

Can you post a link to the recording?

You can see it here.

The overlay looked perfect from my viewpoint

Hi, I am also facing similar problem , did you get the solution for this?

I found that the depth the Hologram is not looking proper through the hololens and while looking through the hololens I feel like my left eye and right projection are merging correctly to give a sense of appropriate placement of the hologram with respect to the real 3d object. If I record the hololens and see the recorded video in monitor then its looks ok ( I guess because its not projecting two images  for each eyes as in case of hololens

It would be great if you could help me to get the correct stereoscopic setting.

In ARCamera prefab when  I set Eyewear Type as Optical See-through   and See Through Config as Hololens  then two more camera gameobject Stereo camera left and right are created but I am not sure how to use it as I have already a GameObject ( HiololensCamera ) with MainCamera as Tag

Please let me know if we need to set the stereoCameraLeft and StereoCameraRight or any other solution

Thanks in Advance,

Dwitee

Vuforia expects target measurements to be in meters. This is important for stereo applications. Alignment could be offset if other precision is used.

I did use meters all along, so something else is wrong. A did calibrating for sensors and ipd a few times, and also did a factory reset. I will test more when I get some free time.
