Model Detection Offset

Hello,

My team and I have been attempting to build an application to the HoloLens that uses Model Recognition. We are able to build to the HoloLens without any trouble. The problem is the AR items (mostly callouts and models) are offset from where they are supposed to line up. We've attempted the modifications and solutions suggested in this thread (https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/hololens/objecttarget-placement) because the issues traits are similar, but to no avail. We've gone as far as to redo our Model Target Database to resolve this issue, but it seems to have only made the problem worse. 

Has anyone else encountered an issue similar to this and, if so, what was the resolution? Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated and thanks for your time in advanced.

Hello,

There is an inherent limitation in how accurate HoloLens can track a Model Target, which, based on our observations, can be in the order of +/- half centimeter (roughly a quarter of an inch).

For improving the registration accuracy of object overlay augmentations (when using Model Targets on HoloLens), it is recommended to use objects larger than “toys”. Even in the current Unity Model Targets on HoloLens sample, the Viking Lander augmentation that is meant to directly overlay upon the physical target may not have exact registration.

There are a variety of factors that contribute to this offset, including user calibration and performance differences between HoloLens units, but as the objects become larger the registration accuracy should also improve.
