Need a solution to the vuforia/MRC problem

July 27, 2017 - 10:54am #1

Many people on the forum here have had issues using Mixed Reality Capture with hololens since apparently they simply can't work together.  We need to be able to demo our app to our ceos, and so far no one has spoken up about their solution to the problem or what they did to solve it.

Question 1: Is it possible to mount a usb camera onto the hololens and have vuforia use that?

Question 2: Has anybody had success using Spectator View (https://blogs.windows.com/devices/2017/02/13/spectator-view-new-tool-help-others-see-see-hololens/) with a vuforia-hololens app?

Question 3: Has anybody gotten MRC to work somehow and if so how?

Thanks in advance for any answers, cause we really need them.

Need a solution to the vuforia/MRC problem

I have answered this previously. Basically what you need to do is enable extended tracking so that once you have tracked your target and are displaying whatever it is you need want to display will be passed over to the Hololens. You can then Stop the vuforia camera instance. You will notice the white light on the front of the hololens turn off and this now means the camera is free for use and because you are extended tracking your object/s will still appear. You can then live preview and even speak to cortana to take videos and images. I then use speech recognition to enable to camera again and reset the tracking if I need to but you need to make sure you stop the live preview first.
