Hi ,

I would like to know if someone has already performed an Object recognition on Hololens.

If yes, Is there a tutorial ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Dmitrijsmok,

i want to know if i can use the vuforia target object scanner with the hololens or do i have to scann it with android devices??

I want to track a machine in our university and place a hologram next to it. So after researching in many forums i come to the conclusion that it would work with the object recogntion and vuforia object scanning but the point is if i have to use android devices for scann-process or is it possible to scann with the hololens to???

I would appreciate any answer, cause its important for my thesis in university

Thank you for your attention

WOW! no reply during couple of months.

Actually I have done some successful experience with ImageTarget on hololens, but I have issue to do it with ObjectTarget prefab.

I tired research and experimenting couple of weeks to figure out how it is working. I have no idea why Vuforia developers do not give us an example how ObjectTarget should works with hololens.

I scanned my object and tested it with vuforia scanner, everything is excellent. Everything is working well on my Web camera in Unity Play mode and on Android app. The object was recognized. When I deploy the same project on hololens using samples provided by vuforia for hololens: https://developer.vuforia.com/downloads/samples and adjust the object right scale I see the object in hololens, but with approx. -50cm offset at Z axis. If I come closer to object it's larger, If I come further it's smaller.

I also tried recommendation from this forum to use DefaultTrackableEventHandlerCorrected.cs script and did not saw any difference.

I also tried new Vuforia Starter Kit from unity store, where is no any sample with hololens. Creating additional camera for hololens doesn't help, because there is no option for binding it with ARcamera.

It seems there is no future for Hololens and Vuforia cooperation, even Vuforia developers did not used for demonstration any Object recognition techniques. They use only VuMark and Image recognition what is very simple to use.

I'm trying to do this as well.  I have successfully done it in an Android app, following this tutorial:  https://www.sitepoint.com/how-to-build-an-ar-android-app-with-vuforia-and-unity/

I replaced the image target with an object target created from Vuforia's android app.
