Object tracking - Hololens - very poor

Dear developers,

We are developing a project with Unity + Vuforia 3D object scanning SDK + Hololens

We deployed a project into hololens with Vuforia digital eyewear sample project.  

But In Hololens object scanning was not good. It is very hard to detect the 3D model.

Is there any special techniques to improve the detection quality in Hololens ? \

Please give your suggestions.

I can also agree. But i think its different, because Hololens are using multiple cameras, rather than one like in tablets or mobile devices. When I was trying to detect my object target with HoloLens i also noticed, that the detection is much faster when i point single camera at my target, and slower when i point my gaze cursor at it.

I can agree. I tried multiple 3D objects that have worked well with phones, but the Hololens does not track them. It seems there is something significantly not working or I'm overlooking something specific for Hololens that needs to be done. I've been able to get flat and cuboid markers working just fine. It is only Object Tracking on Hololens that is not working.

Hi everyone, 

I actually have the same problem with the object target ... the thing is that I reproduced the almost perfect scanning conditions and  the app actually works pretty good at my tablet (android) but when it comes to the Hololens it just doesnt seem to recognize. And even when it does either it is unstable or take like 40 seconds track movement ... I have tried resizing the ObjectTarjet prefab in different ways but until now , no sucess....  Does anyone know where the problem could be???

The quality of Object Target detection and tracking is very much dependent upon the quality of the target that you have scanned, and the environmental conditions in which the detection and tracking are taking place (lighting, etc.). Here are some guidelines for determining what makes a good Object Target:


If you are questioning the quality of your dataset, I would suggest that you first test on a mobile device using a camera mode similar to that of HoloLens. If it detects well on that device in the same environment, then I would expect you'll find similar performance once you port to HoloLens.
