Vuforia SDK Version: 6.0.114 -
Description with steps to reproduce: As iOS 10 adoption recently took over...I started getting lots of crash reports. Some crash reports also came from various iOS 9.x versions, but by far the majority was iOS 10.x
I got some iOS 10 devices and sure enough it crashes...a lot. Pretty much its 100%. But not right away. The app has a feature that requires the scene to be reloaded (see my other bug report about the mixed reality mode resetting the world center mode)....to be reloaded kind of often. After a few reloads...about 4 or 5...the app just exits. The scene is pretty dense...so...to me this felt very much like a memory issue. For days I chased potential memory issues.
Turns out...it's metal.
Unity 5.4.1, Vuforia 6.x (tried all of them), xcode 8, iOS 10.x (and probably some iOS 9 versions), metal on...the above crashing behavior 100% of the time. Metal off...no more crash.
Now...it could be that it still crashes...just the number of reloads was significantly raised by turning metal off...dunno. Anyway I figure this is more than enough for you guys to go on. -
