Ok, one by one I killed the build errors I was having, and now it compiles and runs! Yay!
But...
I have the view being pushed onto my viewController stack using a segue. This seems to work, and I can see various methods firing up (for instance, when I failed to copy over the .m4v file it complained, so it was getting that far). Now all of that is fixed, and I can see in the log that I have "AVPlayerItemStatusReadyToPlay".
However, after the view loads and opens all its assets, I get the spinner icon, forever.
Any ideas? Where does that spinner get put up, and who tears it down?
Almost working!
Now it is working.
So basically initWithNIBName was doing a bunch of setup. Of course you don't initWithNIB using a segue, so that setup never got called. I moved the code down into loadView, and presto.
