ARKit does not improved extended tracking

December 24, 2017 - 4:11am #1

iPhone 7 + Unity 2017.3.0f3 here.

Is Vuforia Fusion + ARKit supposed to improve the extended tracking feature?

So far I can only see ARKit being used in the ground plane example, but not in a simple image target + extended tracking use case.

I just asked the same question in a separate thread: https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/ground-plane/combining-ground-plane-and-image-targets

A  Vuforia staff member replied there stating you should be able to achieve it in Unity: "In general, ground plane + image targets are independent of each other, but can be used together. One doesn't really "trigger" the other - you should just be able to use Unity Code to get it working."

I did test image target + extended tracking with Vuforia 7 and it seemed as unreliable as before.

I think so too.

Vuforia Sample Release note say that "Improvements to stability and performance on ARKit devices".

https://library.vuforia.com/content/vuforia-library/en/articles/Release_Notes/Vuforia-Sample-Release-Notes.html

but image target sample not seem to use ARKit.
