Conversion of png to texture in Image Targets App

August 25, 2011 - 12:30am #1

I downloaded the QCAR sdk for ios and executed the Image Target app. I need to understand the concept of png to texture conversion of TextureTeapotBrass and TextureTeapotBlue. png image. Can we create the texture for some other image and replace it with teapot image ?

Help!

Hi AugmentedReality,

The array 'teapotTexCoords' provide this mapping from texture coordinates to 3D object surface, in Teapot.h.

Most 3D design applications come with tools to 'UV Unwrap' a 3D object so that its surfaces are unwrapped onto a flat image.

If you need to know more about OpenGL and the concept of textures and texture coordinates there are many good resources on-line to understand this. See Jeff LaMarche's tutorials at http://iphonedevelopment.blogspot.com/ and Philip Rideout's book: iPhone 3D Programming
