We are using version 8.1.7, and are using image targets, cylinder targets and multi targets.

Have you found a solution, or get more information about what's happening? Having the same issue with the same iPad with Unity 2018.3.14. Sometimes it'll seem like we've fixed the issue only for it to pop back seemingly at random hours after it had been built 

We are now getting reports of this same distortion from users on 7th gen iPads. Our app uses using Unity 2018.3.13 with Vuforia 8.0.10.

Earlier iPads and all iPhones we've tested work as expected.

One user reported that the camera worked fine on their 7th gen iPad initially, but a subsequent use of the app showed the distortion.

Have you noticed anything unusual in the logs? I have found nothing different compared to an iPad Pros log output

We are continuing to get user complaints about distortion issue. Users report streaky vertical lines down the entire screen.

Does anyone at Vuforia have any suggestions about the cause or possible solution to this problem?

Unfortunately I don't have an ipad 7th generation to test out the behavior. Based on the first picture it seems that the camera feed is being somehow affected. However why only on that device it is strange.

Would it be possible to provide me a log dump? including with starting the app + issue being reproduced.

I was able to reproduce this issue on an iPad 7 with Vuforia Engine 8.1.7. It is related to an issue that was fixed in a later version of Vuforia Engine (e.g. 8.3.X) to support of non-standard ARKit camera captured resolutions.

Fortunately, I've resolved the issue with a device-specific patch for the iPad 7. This patch has been uploaded to Vuforia cloud services, and will automatically be downloaded (and applied) by the Engine SDK at runtime. Engine SDK will reach out for this device-specific patch once 24 hours has elapsed since the last time it was initialized. The patch maps all Vuforia Engine camera capture and render performance modes (DEFAULT, SPEED and QUALITY) to 1280x720 (aka 720p).

I tested the patch by running a newly installed of Vuforia Engine core samples onto an iPad 7. Once the app was started, the device specific profile was downloaded and applied, and the previous rending artifacts were no longer observed.

The project has been updated several times and there has been a change in the version of Vuforia, unfortunately I don't know which one was used first(probably 9.6.4).
