How to import a 3D model with animation

April 6, 2012 - 5:40pm #1

I have learnt almost all the api and demo on your website. Im a developer on iOS with xCode4 using the Vuforia tool. But I still have a question about how to import my 3D models with animation into my project and display it when detecting my trackers on the screen. And is there any requirement for the formats of my animation 3D models?

Further to Kim's comment - you can also take a look at Phil Rideout's book "iPhone 3D Programming" and Jeff Lamarche's blog which are two good resources for OpenGL, 3D Models and textures on iOS.

Vuforia does not provide support for importing or rendering 3D models. Rather, it hooks you up to OpenGL ES for this purpose. The samples show how to render static models defined in a header file; rendering animated models is more complex.

I suggest looking for a rendering engine that is compatible with OpenGL ES, there should be some that are tailored for use with iOS.
