Image Targets freezes on splashscreen :(

August 8, 2012 - 2:35am #1

I have a problem getting the ImageTargets sample to run on my iPad...
I'm using Xcode 3.2.6, Software Version of iPad is 3.2.1
Project settings and so on should be correct (hopefully... already checked them countless times...)

The Sample builds correctly but when i try to run it on my iPad it freezes on the splashscreen.

The output from the Debugger ist the following:

asm __dyld_dyld_fatal_error 0x2fe0106c
0x2fe0106c  <+0000>  undefined
0x2fe01070  <+0004>  nop

plus 4 other error messages:
asm __dyld_ZN4dyld4haltEPKc 0x2fe02bac
asm __dyld__ZN4dyld5_mainEPK12macho_headermiPPKcS5_S5 0x2fe0695e
asm __dyld__ZN13dyldbootstrap5startEPK12macho_headeriPPKcl 0x2fe01680
asm __dyld_dyld_start 0x2fe01028

Any ideas what's going on? ^^;
I would be very grateful for any suggestions
-best regards

Thank you very much for your reply,

I continued the research for myself too and found the following post:

There it says:
"[...], CoreVideo and CoreMedia are only available on iOS 4.0. If you want to use libraries that are not available in 3.X iOS, you have to do something called weak linking, you have to make those frameworks optional in the project and make sure that the classes that are using them are not gonna be called in your app if you running iOS version lower than 4.0"

So i will try with another device that has iOS 4.x, maybe it helps ^^
i will also try to upgrade my xcode to 4.2

I will let you know wether it works or not (hopefully it will ^^;)

-best regards

No idea why as the samples should run out of the box.

The only reason they don't typically is due to a corrupt installation or some kind of basic incompatibility.

In your case I notice that you are using a very old version of XCode, so maybe this has something to do with it, as does the OS version you are using (3.2.1)

Not also that Arm6 is not supported - you need to compile for Arm7 at the minimum.

If you can try it with later Xcode or devices that might help.
