Thanks for your input on this JF - we've diagnosed this as the app build still picking up the beta library.

All please note that the Beta identifies itself as:

"INFO: QCAR SDK version 1.0.3"

Whereas the release identifies itself as:

"INFO: QCAR SDK version 1.0.0"

Moving forwards we'll skip 1.0.3 so as not to confuse (any more).

Hi jfchianetta,

The log does indicate that you've failed to load the device profile. Given that it worked previously, please follow the 'usual' steps to avoid this:

1) Restart the device, delete the app from the device (to delete the data), rebuild/install
2) Double check that you have suitable access to the internet (wifi/cellular, data credit/allowances, logins/redirections)
3) As you did before, try killing the app and starting it from the home screen to avoid the debugger/download problem

Please be reassured that the upcoming release avoids this issue.

I did all this, I even resetted my ipad totally to factory settings and I can get any of the exemples to work anymore. I also tried with different internet connections.

When will be the upcoming release? It's quite annoying, I can't do demos anymore and I can't devellop. I'll give it a try on a iPhone to see if I can get that to work on a different device but for the iPad I really tried everything.

I also encountered the problem with the "cannot download device start-up settings,"

I am not able to use QCAR anymore, I reinitialized my iPad, I recompiled all the exemple from scratch, installed them and run without the debugger but there is nothing to do. It doesn't work anymore. I don't know what else I can tried. It worked perfectly for 2 months and now I'm completely stuck in my development. Can you suggest me something else to try?

Might be that I run into the same problem as codeb87. However compiling Dominoes again from scratch an running it on the iPad2 device without xcode debugger works now for me. Very impressive!

Thanks

I encountered a similar problem with the "cannot download device start-up settings," but was able to get around it. It seems that when the apps are run through the xCode debugger, they encounter difficulty downloading the device profile. Rather than try to run the app through xCode, simply build the app to your device and then run it on its own. Once I did this, the device profile was saved properly onto the device and on subsequent runs I could run it using the debugger.

Hope this helps!

Sorry my english so bad...
Can you tell me the step ?

Hi elecman, we shouldn't confuse lack of 3G connectivity with your jail-broken phone issue - unless you *have* got connectivity issues which you've previously indicated you haven't.

Hi codeb87, and all,

This is actually a different circumstance, and not a 'bug' in this instance. You'll also get this message if the library can't access the server, which it could over WiFi (so there is no problem with the device type) but there is some problem or delay with your 3G/cellular data connection.

I retested this to make sure and amusingly I got the same error - the credit on my test phone account had run out! Once topped up everything worked fine.

Possibilities are:
* Cellular data turned off in Settings->General->Network
* Service provider bandwidth reduced, or temporarily off-line
* Account has run out of credit for the current period

Hope that clarifies the situation.

Thanks for the very detailed report.

You are correct, the function contains the fault you have described. It will be fixed in a future version.

Hi Dive,

Thanks for the report, and thanks also for providing comprehensive info about your system.

I'm afraid the reason for this problem is we do not support 3GS on this SDK. Please refer to the file "Supported_Devices_iOS.pdf" on the iOS downloads tab.

Thanks

Hi.
Thanks for public beta, but I have some troubles with sample app after deploying to the device.

I prepare ImageTargets Project following the instruction, then add Provision Profile, but when I try to run app at device I have this error at console:

2011-07-28 16:37:21.499 ImageTargets[127:5c03] ERROR: Error - cannot download device start-up settings. Failed to initialize the QCAR SDK. Device settings must be downloaded at least once for the SDK to work.

2011-07-28 16:37:21.503 ImageTargets[127:5c03] QCAR::init percent: -3

System Information:
- Xcode Version 4.1 Build 4B110;
- Mac OS X 10.7.2;
- iPhone 3GS, Software Version 4.3.5 (8L1).

Thanks for help.

Re: iOS SDK Beta known issues:

In the Dominoes demo application, the app crashes when you try to run the falling simulation. I dug into the code to figure out why, and found that in SampleMath.cpp, in the Vec3FTransform function, the program tries to write data into the fourth component of a 3-dimensional vector (r). Obviously this triggers a memory error that results in the crash (at least it does on my iPhone 4).

The function is trying to multiply a 3-dimensional vector by a 4x4 matrix, so it was a little confusing. I figured the 4th dimension probably didn't matter, and ended up fixing the problem by commenting out the write into the (non-existent) 4th component of r. After I did that, the simulation ran like a charm.

Just a heads up.
