What is a .v3d file?

January 23, 2018 - 7:21am #1

I want to try out the Model Target demo with a custom 3D model. The required file format is .v3d file.

https://library.vuforia.com/articles/Solution/model-target-native-sample-user-guide.html

What type of file is this, and how do I create it.

There is very little information online about this format.

Hi,

I have couple questions as well.

1) Can anyone share more details about what this .v3d file is?

2) Is it possible to convert .obj or any other 3d model file to .v3d?

If nothing works out then I am gonna implement a custom wrapper to read my 3D model since Vuforia sample code only reads .v3d file.

And, I wish there was some documentation about .v3d file and its content.

Hello paulmriordanTS,

The documentation for this is incorrect and any 3D model format can be use for augmenting Model Targets (I've raised the issue internally). The sample app is using this format, but you can replace the loading and rendering with any rendering code that supports your preferred 3D model format.

Thanks,
