Image Targets Native Sample Android White Screen Loading

June 1, 2015 - 7:40pm #1

Vuforia SDK Version: Vuforia-sdk-android-4-2-3 -

Description with steps to reproduce:

Whenever ImageTargets.class is loaded, the screen goes white and there is some loading happening. After a while, the camera would be loaded. Is there something that we can do to prevent the white screen from happening? Also, is there a code we can modify to take over the white screen? For user interface purposes. Thank you.

Development OS (Mac OS X, Windows, Linux): Windows 8 -

Mobile OS and Version: Lollipop -

Mobile Device Manufacturer and Model name: Sony Xperia Z3 -

Do the Vuforia Sample Applications show the same behavior?: The Image Targets Native does while the Image Targets doesn't.

Do the 3D object use a material with Standard Shader (Unity 5) or a material with Bump Mapping and/or Specular ?

If so, you may want to try replacing the shader with something like "Legacy/Diffuse" or "Mobile/Diffuse" or other shader that do not rely on Bump Mapping / Specular or Unity 5 Standard or Standard Specular shaders.

This issue is a known issue in Vuforia 4.2.3 and is related to an issue in Unity 5, which is discussed in this thread:

please checkout that thread for status of the issue and for a few workarounds that can be used in the meantime.

I am experiencing the exact same problem on Samsung S6 with Unity 5.0.2 and Vuforia 4-2-3.

Hello there !

I have the similar problem here :

I'm using Nexus 10 under Android 4.4.4 to test my app' and I developp with Unity 5.0.2f1 32bits under Windows 8.1 64bits with Vuforia 4.2.3.

Well, when I launch my app on the device, there is no problem. But when I detect my real Object3D with my app' (scanned with Vuforia Object Scanner), a white screen appear and stay but disappear when the Object3D isn't recognized.

Everything works fine on Unity, and I will try on iOS, but under Android I've seen lot of posts on this subject. How can I fix it please ?

Thank you.
