IPv6 network problem

January 26, 2017 - 9:50pm #1

Apple team rejected my AR App.

"We discovered one or more bugs in your app when reviewed on iPad running iOS 10.2.1 on Wi-Fi connected to an IPv6 network.

Specifically, we encountered a blank screen with AR samples provided."

What 's anything that I missing it ?

IPv6 network problem

Looks like the IPV6 was not the issue at all, I don't know why they keep saying that the app crashed using ipv6 network. once my app doesn't even connect to the internet, so I asked them what they did to produce that error "Your app crashed on iPad or iPhone running iOS 11.2.5 connected to an IPv6 network during our review." and they answered me with this:

"We noticed that several screens of your app were crowded or laid out in a way that made it difficult to use your app.

Please see attached screenshots for details. These screenshots represent some examples of this problem but may not represent all instances of this issue.

Next Steps

To resolve this issue, please revise your app to ensure that the content and controls on the screen are easy to read and interact with.

Resources

For more information, please review the following resources on the iOS Developer Center page:

- UI Do's and Don'ts

- iOS Human Interface Guidelines

- UIKit

Please make any changes you see needed to bring this app into compliance with the App Review Guidelines, then resubmit for review. Once this issue has been resolved, we can continue with the review of your app.

Best Regards,

App Store Review"

I resubmitted the app as you suggested and it was approved.

Thanks.

Hello,

We performed an extensive investigation into this issue and found nothing non-compliant about the Vuforia 6.2 SDK. Using this detailed post from the Apple team, we replicated a similar environment and found that the Vuforia SDK was able to connect to back end services. Our test results were also confirmed by a Vuforia dev.

Based upon this, and feedback from other Vuforia devs, Apple may be guilty of inconsistently applying networking test suites and/or pass-fail criterion for submitted apps. The devs we worked with simply re-submitted the app and it was not rejected the next time.

Finally, our understanding is that back end service endpoints for apps submitted to Apple do not have to support IPv6. We've confirmed the same with some very popular apps that have been on the market for years.

Thanks

I ran into the same problem. Here is the message from the App Store team about the rejection:

"We discovered one or more bugs in your app when reviewed on an iPhone and iPad running iOS 10.2.1 on Wi-Fi connected to an IPv6 network.

Specifically, no action occurred when we pointed our camera to the images located on your website."

Some more info:

version: "vuforia-unity-6-2-6".

license: "Classic"

There is a newer version that I can use (6.2.10), but before I submit another build, could you tell me whether this problem has been fixed in that version?

Maybe, Vuforia has a network in the framework? with problem?

Vuforia probably still has to connect to their services to verify your license.

Are there any other frameworks you are using on your app, anything that might connect to any servers? If your app is running in Unity alone and you can monitor the network, you could check that.

We are having the same issues. I tried using some validation tools to verify if Vuforias endpoints are IPv6 supported and they all failed. In contrast I used the same tools for my own endpoints and they all passed. Also the App Store Review team said the app is crashing at the very launch because of IPv6 and I am doing no connections to our servers, only Vuforia starting. So the Vuforia SDK can be IPv6 compliant, but their servers not IPv6 supported, thus failing every I verification have tried so far. I will try again today to set up my router to be IPv6 only. I think the problem is that Apple is testing it with an IPv6 only connection. So even IPv6 Ready backends/servers/APIs might fail if you connect with pure IPv6 only.

Hello,

Apologies for your inconvenience.

I have confirmed with our development team that the 6.2 SDK is IPv6 compliant as Vuforia only utilizes iOS APIs for all networking activities.

We will continue to monitor the situation for any changes.

Thanks.
