Vuforia Media Android Depth Buffer Thrashing

October 6, 2014 - 9:54am #1

Vuforia SDK Version: 3.0 -

Description with steps to reproduce:

When a GameObject with a mesh intersects our video plane inside of Unity, they flicker repeatedly. We've tracked it down to how the Vuforia Media player manages surfaces on Android (trashing the wrong depth buffer every other frame, due to double-buffering and a logic error in the swap code).

-

Development OS (Mac OS X, Windows, Linux): Mac OS X -

Mobile OS and Version: Android, All -

Mobile Device Manufacturer and Model name: All Android Devices -

Do the Vuforia Sample Applications show the same behavior?: The Vuforia sample applications do not have meshes other than video meshes in the scene.

I added a mesh object to intersect the video plane in the VideoPlayback Unity sample app and compiled it to an Android 4.1.2 device, but was unable to reproduce any flicker. The video playback was normal. Could you post a 10 second video clip of the behavior you are seeing? What device and Android version are you using?
