Vuforia Media iOS Track Finished Notification Error

October 6, 2014 - 9:55am #1

Vuforia SDK Version: 3.0 -

Description with steps to reproduce:

Vuforia Media specifically watches the video channel only to determine whether the file has finished playing. This runs into issues when playing an audio file, since you'll never receive that the file has finished playing.

-

Development OS (Mac OS X, Windows, Linux): Mac OS X -

Mobile OS and Version: iOS, All -

Mobile Device Manufacturer and Model name: All -

Do the Vuforia Sample Applications show the same behavior?: Vuforia sample applications do not play audio clips.

Same applies to iOS (i.e. not a general purpose media library to play "audio clips" and not a built-in feature of the SDK; it is sample code to support the video playback sampe use case, i.e. to play videos)

(the only difference is that in this case the sample code of Vuforia media sample code isin the /Assets/plugins/iOS)

The issue is on iOS, not Android.

The Vuforia Media library is part of the Video Playback sample code (and not a "core" component of the SDK)

you can find the source code of it under /Assets/plugins/Android/ under your Unity project, once you have imported the VideoPlayback unitypackage;

as it is part of the sample code, its main purpose is to serve the Video playback sample and to enable it (as a sample) to show videos as an augmentation for Image targets, but it is not intended as a "general purpose" video and audio library (e.g. to play audio files without video or similar). Note that the sample code in the Vuforia Media source code simply uses standard Android functions to achieve the intended video playback capabilities.
